Parent Teacher Conferences Next Week, March 3rd-7th

In this week’s folder there is an S.E.P. appointment slip to sign if you can make the appointed time.  Please have your child return it as soon as possible.  If you cannot make that time, please write a few possible times that may work for you.  (Wednesday after 4:30 is open.)  Part of our SEP time will be spent registering for the Middle School.  Future 6th graders have the option of signing up for band, orchestra, or an arts/music appreciation class.  Please consider the options before registering next week.

Homework this Week

There will not be a formal homework packet this week.  Students will likely be bringing home math homework on a daily basis.  We will be focusing heavily on understanding fractions.  Please remember to study for your states test and spelling test.

Spelling Bee Results

Congratulations to our winners of our classroom Spelling Bee. They are Kenna Andreason, Camrynn Clark, and Kloie Humes.  They will be competing against the other winners in our 4th and 5th grade classes on February 27th at 2:30.

Dual Immersion Applications

Dual Immersion applications are due for those future 1st graders that would like to be part of the program.  Please have those applications turned into the office by Friday.

Homework this Week

This week’s homework will be a variety of topics, states, fractions, science, reading comprehension, and spelling.  Daily math assignments may also be coming home if a student doesn’t finish his/her work in class.

Math Final Test on Division of Decimals

Some students did not do well on their Chapter 5 final test on the division of decimals.  If a student would like the opportunity to retake the test,  They may re-take the test if they work with me during the day and go through the re-teaching packet and tutoring.  

Valentines Day and Valentines

Each student was given a list of the students in our class if they wish to give them a Valentine. On Friday, we will exchange Valentines and have a class auction.  We will be making pouches in class. If a student would like to make a Valentine’s box that is fine, however, the student must provide the shoebox.

Spelling Bee Information

The annual Spelling Bee competition will take place beginning this week in our class. A list of words that we will be using in the in-class competition is in this week’s homework packet.  Another list will be provided for the top 3 finishers to compete in the school competition. Participation in the Spelling Bee is voluntary.  Extra credit will be given to those that do participate and prizes will be awarded at the school and district level.  The school winner will be given a “Kindle” and the District winner will be given an “IPAD Mini”.

The Spelling Bee schedule will go as follows: 

In-Class Competition- Thursday, Feb. 13th
School Competition- Thursday, Feb. 27th
District Competition- Thursday, March 13th

Each class will provide the top 3 students to compete in the school competition.  Each school will provide 1 grand winner to compete on the District level.



Dual Immersion Meeting for Parents

There is a Dual Immersion Meeting for parents this Thursday, 5:30 in the gym.  This meeting is for any parent that has questions or is interested in having their children enrolled in the dual immersion program next year.
