Science Fair Congratulations

We had 91% of our class that participated in the science fair.  All of the projects were exceptional and we appreciate the time and effort put forth by our students and parents in making the science fair and the projects worthwhile.  I am glad so many participated because this may be one of the last times some of our students participate in an event such as this.  We also want to extend our congratulations to James Anderson who finished first overall in the 5th grade competition and Camrynn Clark who finished third.  The following students received honorable mention, Saydee Sherratt, Rachel Lee, Baylor Nehrenz, Samantha Price, Kylee Shugart, Kenna Andreason.
Once again, great job everyone!!!!

End of Level Testing
We have been doing our End of Level Testing in the computer lab.  The tests have been quite extensive compared to what we have been used to in the past.  We began our writing tests last Wednesday.  Our students were in the lab for about 3 hours and most of them are half way finished.  We hope to finish the rest of the writing today.  In about 10 days we will begin the language arts portion of the test.  Then science and math will follow after we complete the language arts.  I appreciate how hard the kids have been working. This has been a new experience for all of us.

No homework Packet this week

There will not be a homework packet handed out this week so that students can focus all of their attention on completing their science Fair Project.  If a student brings home school work, it is because they didn’t finish it in class.  There will be a reading slip included in the packet as well as a spelling test on Friday.

Science Fair- Thursday

Please bring your science fair project on Thursday.  You will be told on Wednesday where to locate your project.  You should have your project set up by 9:15 on Thursday morning and return to class.  The judges will call our grade down to the gym when they are ready for us to explain our projects.  We will leave the projects up all day and Thursday night.  Parents are invited to come to school on Thursday night at 6:30 to attend the Spring P.T.A. meeting, look at the science fair, and view the art that will be hanging on the walls.   All students will be invited to observe the science fair projects on Friday morning and then we will take them down and return them to class late Friday morning.  The science fair project is worth 200 points towards your science grade.  If you have chosen to do a 3 page report instead of the project it will be due on Thursday morning at 9:00.

A.R. Assembly

The school-wide A.R. Assembly will be held on Friday at 2:45 p.m. in the gym.

Kindergarten Registration
Kindergarten Registration will be held on Tuesday, March 25th, from 12:00- 3:00.  If you have a kindergartener to register or know of someone that does, please inform them of the registration time and date.  The Registration will take place in the gym.

End of Level Testing
We will begin the writing portion of our end of level testing on Wednesday morning at 9:00 a.m. Please have your child get a good night’s rest and eat a healthy breakfast to help them be ready for the testing.  It usually takes from 2 to 3 hours to complete this portion of the test.

Report Cards today !
In today’s packet your child will have their 3rd term report card in it.  Please review the report card with your child and sign the slip that accompanies the report card so that I know that you had an opportunity to view it. Feel free to ask any questions or add comments if you wish. Please have the signature slip returned by Friday.  Students may keep the report card.
