5th Grade Maturation Program
The 5th grade Maturation
Program will be held on Thursday, October 30th at 2:00 p.m.
The boys will meet in the gym and the girls will meet in the
library. Our school nurse will be
instructing the young ladies and a local doctor will be instructing the young
men. Parent approval is required
to attend this program. There is a
permission slip in this week’s homework folder. Please have your child return it before Thursday. Parents are invited and encouraged to
attend the program since the material covered may be new, sensitive,
and uncomfortable to discuss for some students. If you have any concerns or
questions about the program, please call or email me and I will do my best with
my limited knowledge in this area to answer your questions or relieve your
fears.
Red
Ribbon Week
Red
Ribbon Week will be held this week.
We are already wearing the red wrist bands and have signed a pledge card to stay drug
free. The other events that will
be held this week are included in the homework packet. Tuesday- Wear Red Day.
Wednesday- Hero Day-
Dress up as someone you admire or whom is a good role model for our society.
Pledge balloons will be released on this day. Thursday- Turn in
the essays or art that you have drawn for the theme, “Love Yourself: Be Drug Free” Friday-
Essay and Art Contest winners will be announced.
Report Cards
Report cards are in this week’s homework
folder. You may keep the report
card, but please sign the little slip that says that you had a chance to review your
child’s grades for the 1st quarter and have your child return it with their
homework packet on Friday.
If
you have concerns or questions about your child’s progress I would be very
willing to meet with
you
or talk to you on the phone. For
your information, every 3 weeks, you will be getting a grade print out in case
you haven’t been able to check the scores on Power School.
New
School Tee-Shirts
Thanks
to our gracious P.T.A. they were able to give everyone in our school a new
“East Elementary Tee- Shirt” to wear on Fridays to show our school spirit. We are very grateful for their hard
work and generous donations. To
help off set their costs, we ask that all students return their Walk-A-Thon
Pledges as soon as possible to school.
Thank you for your support.
Halloween
Dress Up Day on Friday
On Friday all students can come to school
dressed in their Halloween Costumes.
We do have a few ground-rules for students to follow. Please do not wear
anything that represents gore.
Students should not wear masks, large hats, or wing type costumes for
safety reasons. We will be having
a Halloween parade throughout the school so that everyone will get a chance to
show their costume. This activity
is voluntary, students are not required to wear a costume to school on this
day.
