February 17th-20th Newsletter

Spelling Bee

The school-wide Spelling Bee will be this Thursday at 2:15.  Our competitors will be Kate Allen, Ezra Stein, and last year’s defending champion, Kealie Sorteberg.  I apologize for the misinformation that was in last week’s newsletter.  I had a “senior moment” and indicated that it was last week.  I apologize for any inconvenience that it may have caused.

SAGE Testing

We have finished the SAGE end of level writing test for the year.  I was very impressed with the effort that our students put forth to do well.  We have some very talented writers in our class.  We should receive their scores back from the state sometime this spring.  As soon as I receive them, we will send a copy home for your records.

Parent Teacher Conferences

Parent Teacher Conferences will be coming up in two weeks.  They are scheduled for the week of March 2nd-6th.  I will be sending an appointment slip home in next week’s homework packet so that we can schedule you and your child for that week.  5th graders will be signing up for classes for next year’s middle school.  I would advise you to contemplate if you would like to have your child take band, orchestra, or the arts rotation.  Those are the only electives that are offered for 6th graders.  We will have applications for both middle schools available.

Grade Reports

I will be sending home grade reports next Monday in the homework packets.  Please look for them and review your child’s progress.
